  • Analysis of LTR-specific recombinase
Submitted by Ilona Hauber, Dr.   (Heinrich-Pette-Institute, Hamburg, Germany) 4/2/2010

The antiviral activity of an HIV-1 LTR-specific recombinase is analyzed in infected "humanized" mice engrafted with human CD4+ T cells.

  • the role of macrophages in wound healing and hypertrophic scars formation in rabbits
Submitted by Luo Hongmin  (Shantou University, Shantou,Guangdong Province, China) 4/1/2010

We are interested in the role of macrophages in skin wound healing and hypertrophic scars formation in rabbits. Our aim is to deplete the macrophages/monocytes of rabbits and to see whether it will promote the skin wound healing process and prevent scar fomation or not.

  • Microglia depletion from retinas
Submitted by Steven F Abcouwer  (Penn State University College of Medicine, Hershey, PA, United States) 1/4/2010

Using clodronate liposomes to deplete retinas of microglial cells in order to determine the effect on neurodegeneration.

  • Role of cutaneous macrophages in inflammatory activation
Submitted by Zaki Rabhan  (University of Glasgow, Glasgow, United Kingdom) 3/30/2010

We are interested in characterising the role of interactions between langerhans cells and skin macrophages in the development of inflammation.

  • Depletion of Liver Kupffer Cells Prevents theDevelopment of Diet-Induced Hepatic Steatosis
Submitted by Tang Zhaohui   (Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine , Baltimore, United States) 3/26/2010

Depletion of Liver Kupffer Cells Prevents theDevelopment of Diet-Induced Hepatic Steatosis

  • Role of monocytes/macrophages in autoimmune eye diseases
Submitted by Delu Zhou  (University of California, San Francisco, San Francisco, CA, United States) 3/25/2010

By depleting monocytes/macrophages, we hope to understand the potential involvement of these cells in the development of autoimmune eye diseases

  • Role of macrophages in the induction of Treg cells
Submitted by Kenya Honda  (Department of Immunology, Graduate School of Medicine, University of Tokyo, Tokyo , Japan) 3/25/2010

Our aim is to study the role of macrophages in Treg induction using the Clodronate-liposome system.

  • Role of macrophages in the induction of Treg cells
Submitted by Kenya Honda  (Department of Immunology, Graduate School of Medicine, University of Tokyo, Tokyo , Japan) 3/25/2010

We aim to deplete intestinal macrophages to study the effect on Treg cell induction.

  • Role of APCs in biomaterial adjuvant effect
Submitted by Sangeetha Srinivasan  (Georgia Tech, Atlanta, Georgia, United States) 3/24/2010

Our lab mainly focuses on the effect of biomaterials on dendritic cell phenotype. Our next project involves determining the roles of DCs and Macrophage in biomaterial adjuvant effect, for which we need to carryout our experiments by depleting DCs and/or macrophages in vivo in mice; and then check for T-cell proliferation in response to antigen co-delivered with biomaterials.

  • Study of the role of macrophages in PlGF mediated tumor growth.
Submitted by Mieke Dewerchin  (Vesalius Research Center, VIB-KULeuven, Leuven, Belgium) 3/24/2010

anti-PlGF monoclonal antibodies inhibit tumor growth of syngeneic murine tumors by inhibiting monocyte/macrophage activation and/or recruitment
